Trial Advocacy: Voir Dire Do’s and Don’ts

Effective voir dire is a special skill which few litigators have an opportunity to
practice. Our experienced faculty will help make sure that your next voir dire
is your best. Course materials include a survey in which our Northern District
Court Judges share with you their individual voir dire styles and preferences.

Karen Jo Koonan, National Jury Project: Ms. Koonan has been a trial consultant
with NJP/West since 1987. She has worked on over 1,000 cases. She
specializes in mock jury research and in-court assistance with jury selection.

Jody LeWitter, Siegel & LeWitter: Jody LeWitter was lead counsel in Behne v.
MicroTouch Inc., an employment fraud case in which the plaintiff was awarded
what is believed to be the largest employment fraud verdict in California at the
time.

James Bennett, Morrison & Foerster: Mr. Bennett was listed in the San
Francisco Magazine as one of Northern California’s top 100 “Super Lawyers” for
General Litigation in 2004 and 2007. Mr. Bennett has appeared extensively in
both Federal and State courts and has successfully defended at trial numerous
cases in which multi-million damage awards were sought.
