000115 03-measuring-success_wmp_a_16.wma 000000 ERIK SCHMIDT: So I noticed that the wanted list on the Patent Buster site shows that two of the ten most wanted software patents 000008 have been granted re-examinations by the patent office. 000012 Is this over the two-year period? 000014 JASON SCHULTZ: Yes it's actually been an interesting journey to see how long it takes to bust certain patents. 000022 Yes, so we've managed to file on two and those were granted. 000025 And then we're actually preparing to file in a couple of more in the near future. 000029 We've sort of learned this takes about six months to eight months to really gather each case. 000037 And we've been working on several cases at a time. 000041 ERIK SCHMIDT: So given that it takes this much time and takes this much effort, how do you measure success? 000046 Are you truly trying to get all ten of them negated or is the primary point just to call attention to it? 000053 JASON SCHULTZ: I think it's both. 000054 I think calling attention to it definitely has been a success and has generated a lot of conversation and pressure, I think, to move forward on reform. 000103 But we want to get these ten patents off the books and I think we'll be able to do it. 000108 In fact, I'm hoping that the momentum is going to build as we go and it will be faster as we go.
